A Muscat Mediation initiative to bring an end for Yemen’s crisis

The Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen Hans Grundberg ,disclosed that he was in Oman last week to participate in what he called “the Muscat Mediation Retreat” in support of a political process in Yemen.

Grundberg said in a post his office publish at X platform that he remains “deeply grateful” to the Sultanate of Oman for consistently providing a trusted space for dialogue, especially at a time when mediation comes under attack.

He added that “Impartial and trustworthy mediation, when shielded, remains one of the most powerful tools for resolving even the most entrenched conflicts. This is true also for Yemen”

Grundberg.held several bilateral meetings, including with Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of State in Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz AlKhulaifi, and Yemen’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mustapha Noman, as well as with other senior Yemeni officials and representatives of political parties and components.

Grundberg concluded “Our discussions touched on recent developments in Yemen and the region and highlighted the importance of sustained, coordinated regional and national engagement in support of a political process in Yemen”.
