Yemen has been ranked among the world’s top 20 countries experiencing the highest levels of political and deadly violence in 2025, according to the latest report by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), which covers 60 countries globally.

The conflict index published by the U.S.-based academic and research institution placed Yemen 15th overall, categorizing the security situation in the country as “very high.”

The duration of the conflict was ranked 18th worldwide, reflecting its protracted nature.

Detailed assessments within the index showed Yemen ranked 10th in terms of the geographic spread of conflict, highlighting the wide distribution of violent incidents across multiple regions.

The country was also placed 16th for civilian risk, underscoring repeated targeting of non-combatants in conflict zones.

Additionally, Yemen ranked 25th on the fragmentation index, pointing to the multiplicity of armed groups and the weakened structure of the central state.

The report reinforces concerns over Yemen’s deteriorating security environment and the ongoing humanitarian toll of its prolonged conflict.
