Hundreds of African migrants arrived in Shabwah governorate coastal areas on Saturday morning,   perilous sea journeys carried out by smuggling boats.

This come amid noticeable increase in migration movements to Yemen over the past month according to The International Organization for Migration (IOM).

IOM recent report revealed that the number of migrants arriving during October exceeded 17,685 people, marking a 99% rise compared to September, with a significant majority being Ethiopian migrants, who accounted for about 97% of the total, while the remaining percentage consisted of Somali migrants.

This continuous escalation in the flow of migrants towards Yemen reflects increasing humanitarian and security challenges, especially in Shabwah Governorate and the country in general, amid the growing phenomenon of maritime smuggling that exploits the current circumstances.
