In its latest press update U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces successfully destroyed, on May 27, one un-crewed aerial system (UAS) over the Red Sea, launched from an Iranian-backed Houthi rebels controlled area of Yemen.
The update published on X (formerly known as Twitter) added “It was determined the UAS presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels in the region, concluding that “These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.”
