The U.S. Embassy in Yemen has announced two significant initiatives aimed at safeguarding Yemen's invaluable cultural heritage.

In partnership with the Yemeni Ministry of Culture, the Embassy has launched a project to restore the historic Al-Qahira Castle in Taiz. Funded by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), this initiative will focus on restoring key areas of the castle and reconstructing its war-damaged museum.

The Embassy has also initiated a project to prevent the illicit trafficking of Yemeni cultural heritage. This project will establish a specialized law enforcement unit, provide capacity-building training, and foster international cooperation to combat this threat.

U.S. Ambassador Steven Fagin emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating that they not only preserve Yemen's history and culture but also empower future generations. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the Yemeni government and local communities.
