Japan’s Embassy in the Republic of Yemen announced that the Japanese government is providing a new aid package worth $6.6 million from its supplementary budget for fiscal year 2024, in response to the urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen.

The Japanese funded projects would cover the areas of health, protection of IDPs and refugees, food security, agriculture and maritime law enforcement.

These projects are set to be carried out by UN's agencies such as the, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDPC and UNOD and International Planned Parenthood Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Japan has during the recent years contributed to infrastructure development efforts including improving efficiency at the port of Aden, rehabilitating urban roads in Aden and building the capacity of Yemeni government employees by providing various training courses
