Yemeni forces attacked on Friday some caves and hideouts of Al-Qaeda in Abyan Governorate, east of the country, according to a press statement issued by these forces.The statement explained that the forces "carried out a qualitative military operation that targeted clearing a number of dens in which members of the terrorist Al-Qaeda organization were holed up in the mountains of Al-Mahfad District in Abyan Governorate.
"The statement quoted a field commander as saying that monitoring and tracking operations revealed the presence of terrorist elements in a number of mountain caves overlooking the Al-Mahfad District, which necessitated the implementation of the operation, confirming the storming of the caves and dens and clashes with terrorist elements.
The military commander added that the forces are continuing searching operations and pursuing the terrorist elements who fled, while the process of securing the hideouts that have been completely cleared continues, adding that this operation comes within the ongoing efforts to secure areas that terrorist groups are trying to use as base points to threaten security and stability of Yemen.
