A Joint Technical Committee to Identify the Development Needs of Yemen held on Tuesday its twenty-second meeting, organized by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (G.C.C)
The meeting held to coordinate joint efforts to support Yemen, included representatives of the member states of the GCC, Yemen, and Arab and Gulf funds and international institutions.
The Yemeni representative, who addressed the meeting Via video call, pointed out the importance of holding it amid exceptional circumstances facing Yemen and unprecedented challenges.
He stated that as part of the economic recovery efforts, the internationally recognized government of Yemen has prepared a comprehensive plan targeting vital sectors that include water, agriculture, fisheries, electricity, health, transportation, education, vocational training, industry, and infrastructure at a cost amounting to 1.9 billion US dollars.
The representative of the Yemeni government praised the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which provided, through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, vital support to Yemen. He also praised the role of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in supporting the renewable energy sector in the governorates of Aden, Mokha, and Shabwa, and the upcoming project in Hadramaut Governorate, renovating Marib gas station, constructing and equipping Ibn Sina Hospital, and helping with several projects in the health, education, and infrastructure sectors.
He expressed his hope that the meeting would contribute to strengthening cooperation to implement vital projects that will contribute to improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people and achieving their aspirations for development and stability.
