The United States has slapped sanctions on 26 organizations, persons, and vessels associated with the Syrian enterprise Al-Qatirji. The network supplied Iranian oil to Syria and China for hundreds of millions of dollars, benefiting the Qods Force, the IRGC's external operations arm, and the Houthis in Yemen. For years, Iran has backed the Houthis with weapons, training, and financing.
“Iran is increasingly relying on key business partners like the Al-Qatirji Company to fund its destabilizing activities and web of terrorist proxies across the region,” said Acting Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bradley T. Smith. “The Treasury will continue to take all available measures to restrict the Iranian regime’s ability to profit from the illicit schemes that enable its dangerous regional agenda.”
As of 2024, the Al-Qatirji Company has become one of the IRGC-QF’s main financial channels, enabling the IRGC-QF to generate and access hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue this year alone.
