The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its Yemeni affiliate, the Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate (YJS), are demanding the immediate release of journalists Mohamed Al-Miyahi and Fouad Al-Nahari, as well as all other unfairly detained journalists in Yemen.
Both journalists were abducted by Houthi forces in September following their critical reporting. Al-Miyahi was taken from his home in Sana'a after publishing an article criticizing the Houthi organization. Al-Nahari's disappearance remains shrouded in mystery.
The YJS has expressed deep concern for Al-Miyahi's safety and well-being, while the IFJ is calling for the release of both journalists and an end to the ongoing crackdown on press freedom in Yemen.
The intensified campaign of abductions took place amid preparations for the celebration of the September 26 Revolution.
