Three fishermen lost their lives and a young girl was injured in two separate mine explosions in Hodeidah and Taiz governorates, local sources reported this week.

The incidents underscore the persistent threat posed by land and sea mines in coastal and conflict-affected areas.

In Hodeidah, a maritime mine detonated while fishermen were working off the coast, killing two instantly.

A third fatality occurred in Taiz, where a landmine exploded near a rural farming area, also injuring a child who was nearby at the time.

Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of the widespread presence of unexploded ordnance across Yemen, particularly in regions that have witnessed intense fighting.

The latest casualties add to a growing toll of civilians harmed by mines, many of which remain unmarked and not cleared.

Efforts to remove mines have been hampered by limited access and ongoing insecurity, leaving communities vulnerable to sudden and deadly accidents.
