UNICEF Yemen reported that chartered flight brought in over 3.4 million doses of the most needed lifesaving oral polio vaccine to Aden, Yemen.
According to a post in X UNICEF Yemen added that these vaccines will protect more than 1.3M children under five years old from polio virus during the upcoming polio immunization campaign.
Last May, UNICEF announced the receipt of the first batch of 9.5 tons of vaccines for the routine immunization program, including vaccines against measles, polio, and other deadly childhood diseases.
The organization confirmed that these efforts are supported by the Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), as part of a joint effort to promote children's health in Yemen and address life-threatening diseases amid existing health challenges.
