A Liberian-flagged chemical tanker came under attack in the Red Sea on Thursday, with the British military's United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center suspecting the Houthi rebels as the perpetrators. The vessel, sailing near the East African coast, was struck by a projectile that caused damage but resulted in no injuries or fires.

At least two more projectiles were later spotted falling into the waters around the ship, which was some distance from the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeida. While the rebels have not yet claimed responsibility, their past pattern of attacks and the nature of the incident point to their involvement.
