Russian Foreign Minister confirmed his country’s commitment to further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Yemeni relations, and stressed the importance of efforts to maintain regular political dialogue, as well as to continue coordination of its positions with the Internationally Recognized Government of Yemen (IRG) at the United Nations and other international platforms.
Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Republic of Yemen Dr. Shaya Mohsen Al-Zindani, who visited Moscow on an official visit, had an in-depth exchange of views on the situation in and around Yemen.

Lavrov and Al-Zindani agreed to resume the activities of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, and scientific and technical cooperation and discussed maintaining contacts between their military departments, which have a long and positive track record.
In response to a widespread interest shown by Yemenis in studying in Russia, Lavrov announced that the Russian government decided to increase the number of scholarships awarded annually.
