Security Council Removes the names of Late President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Former Ambassador, Brigadier General Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh from Its Sanctions List

 On 30 July 2024, the Security Council Sanctions Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) removed the names of Late President Ali Abddullah and Former Ambassador, Brigadier General Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh from Its Sanctions List, according to a press releases concerning changes to the Committee’s Sanctions List.

Former Yemen president Ali Abdallah Saleh and Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh were accused by the U.N security council (resolution 2140 (2014)) of aliening themselves with the Houthi rebels in their bid to seize the capital Sanaa.They were also accused of playing  a key role in facilitating the Houthi military expansion and engaged in acts that threaten the peace, security, or stability of Yemen, and decided to freeze their assets and impose global travel ban on them
