The United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) reported that it has recorded 6 explosive ordnance (EO) related incidents in various districts of the Hudaydah Governorate, during June 2024.
A recent report by the mission added that those incidents, which occurred in Ad-Durayhimi, Al-Hali, At-Tuhayta, Bayt Al Faqih, and Hays, have resulted in a total of 9 civilian casualties, of which there was 3 children injured, 1 child killed, and 1 women killed.
The report explained “In June 2024, The UNMHA Mine Action team continued coordinating with local authorities in Hudaydah, Sana'a, and Aden, enhancing their partnerships with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, the United Nations country team, and international NGOs and stakeholders.”
These activities included coordination, technical support, and advocacy, specifically targeting mine action support within the Hudaydah governorate.
The report concluded that overall, the UNMHA Mine Action team's continued engagement with a diverse array of stakeholders and their adaptive approach to operational challenges underscores their commitment to creating a safer environment in Yemen. Their work not only focuses on immediate mine action tasks but also builds long-term partnerships and fosters sustainable solutions for the affected communities.
