The office of the U.S State Department’s spokesperson announced on Monday that U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking is traveling to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman this week to continue discussions with partners regarding the peace process in Yemen.
In a media note issued by the office of the spokesperson “the U.S. Yemen envoy would discuss an immediate end to the reckless “Houthi attacks” in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways, noting that “The Houthis’ continued attacks threaten progress toward achieving a durable resolution to the conflict in Yemen and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemenis and people in need across the region.”
The media note of the office of the spokesperson added that “United States strongly supports a durable, inclusive peace in Yemen and urges a swift return to UN-led peace efforts.”
The media note concluded that “Special Envoy Lenderking plans to meet with counterparts to discuss steps to de-escalate the current situation and support the Yemeni people.”
